Our friend Nick is something of an expert when it comes to cocktails. I would say he wrote the book, but the truth is he's actually in the process of writing the book. We'll keep you posted when that comes out.
In the meantime, here's that recipe for pear punch. Fair warning: It's complicated. But for those up for a bit of wizardry and mixology, it makes a wonderful fall aperitif:
Nick's Pear Punch
18 oz. pear- and apple-infused tequila
4.5 oz. tea and orange-infused sweet vermouth
4.5 oz. manzanilla sherry
10 oz. lemon juice
5 oz. spiced pear-apple syrup
Club soda to taste
Pears and apple slices, for garnish
In a pitcher or bowl, whisk together the tequila, vermouth, sherry, and lemon juice. Sweeten with syrup to taste (I used double what the recipe called for!), then chill until ready to serve. Pour into a punch bowl with a large block of ice and top with club soda (I used about 16 oz.). Garnish with fruit.
